so... I got an iPad 3 (that's what I will call it)

New iPad - whatever.

I've owned an iPad 2 - I made heavy use of it as I travel a lot. I use many apps very heavily and facetime has been invaluable in keeping in touch with my family.

It's a great device, but I tell you the screen on iPad 3 blows iPad 2 out of the water. Beautiful, super crisp, it's such a joy especially when reading. The HD games look amazing too. Haven't tried Airplay yet (I use Airplay heavily at home playing my photo albums, videos etc. on the large HD TV)

Not once in this entire year have I had a need for a cable or USB etc.  DropBox/Box.net/iCloud/Airplay - more than enough.

In terms of specs etc. this is evolutionary. iPad 2 was pretty quick already, so I don't particularly feel this to be much faster. The camera is so much better, but this iPad is all about the screen. It's screen porn.

I managed to sell my iPad 2 at a pretty good price, which is what is great about Apple products. So my true cost of use for a year of iPad 2 is just 200$! Of course not once have I had to have it repaired or pay extra charges or whatever. I got it, used it heavily, used it without wasting time on making it work, and then sold it for a good price and then got a new version already.

Go buy one.

  1. iPad 3 is amazing. Yes it mostly about the screen, better resolution than any tablet on the market.

Hopefully you the got the Verizon LTE version, so you can also get a hotspot built in.

  2. Agree on the iPad 3 awesomeness bit....

However, news should be about NI..umm....right??

The only thing i get to hear is they are heavily out of funds and manpower. God Bless them...I am just waiting for them to legally "end" it....Whenever that is.

  3. I agree, been lusting after the retina display for quite a while. I think the iPad 3 is not the perfect device, but one that is just right! The world seems to be moving along, the new Ipad launched, the Samsungs and Asus's are the premium tablet segment and some amazing chinese tabs are flooding the market at the low end segments. Kindle Fire has completely taken over the middle ground. While NI is still hard at work brainstorming their new iPad killer, Adam 2.

  4. This boat is no longer sinking. It has started growing seaweed and harbouring bottom-dweller colonies on the ocean floor.

  5. Another tablet worth mentioning is the Sony one, looks a lot like an Adam, 'cept sleeker.

  6. Yes, it looks quite good - works well for women, I think, but they're spoilt for choice with the other model with the split screen anyway.

It sucks that although Sony and Logitech copied NI's design, people would think the other way round.
