summary ("rewrite") of NI latest post on Honeycomb

The original is here: http://notionink.wordpress.com/2011/06/25/moving-on/

Here's my rewrite.

"Hey guys, uh, you're all gonna get a new keyboard app, uh, in trial, after the uh, next update.

And now, here's something life changing --- uh, a new boot screen! Yes!

And then about Honeycomb. I know y'll been waitin' and stuff for this release, and uh, hate to tell y'all, but it's pretty much gonna be Tabletrom's version with some tweaks. It is a beta. Yeah, that's what we said. Sorry we forgot to tell y'all a few months ago that we'd just be using TR's version.

That's it, O&O, stick with us y'all, we got more cool updates and betas comin' yo way"

So. basically. No developments on Eden ("they all moved to HC"). No real developments HC ("they're using TR's work").

Sorry, but I can't find anything to say positive. Yes yes I know this tablet has more "ports" and a PixelQi screen.

Law suit? Low orders? Dying interest... round-up

So, I've been gone a while. I'm back now. Let's see what's been happening

http://conclave.notionink.com/showthread.php?737-I-hired-a-Bangalore-Law-firm-to-act-against-NI.-Join - a lawsuit by a pissed customer? I'm not sure it'll get far though...

The chaps at notioninkscam.com* mentioned they had a 'juicy update' (Big update soon... on some insider info on NI) to share. I haven't seen any yet, but I'll keep my eyes open.

(PS - I don't subscribe to the idea that NI is a scam, I just think they're utterly incompetent at running a business, and pretty arrogant in how they go about it)

Now, let's head over to http://notionink.wordpress.com -- couple of posts on sales and updates. Most have 200 odd responses compared to 1000s before. In those 200 and odd, a lot are current customers and a few new ones. No more 'let's hang on to every word they say' mobs. One +ve observation - it does seem like all orders were dispatched on time this time, but when you consider the total number of orders was probably < 100, seriously, it better be on time!

So, my recommendation for PO3 was pretty clear. It appears, from observations, that the orders for PO3 are even less than 100. Could be 50 or less even. One would think that the number of orders for a start-up/aspiring company would increase from one order to the other, but with NI it might be quite the opposite. This is speculation of course given NI does not release numbers (they don't need to, I don't expect them to, they don't have to) - but all observations seem to indicate just that.

A post on conclave about 'New Adamites on PO3' started on June 18th has so far garnered only, erm, 10 responses. The poll seems to indicate that there are a whopping 18 new buyers! Alright, even if we assume that Notion Ink's idiotic policy of allowing only Facebook registrations on their forum (no, seriously, which idiot came up with this idea giving no alternative options) kept most away, how many do you think have purchased Adam without having ever posted on the blog or conclave? Very few I'd say given the type of following this tablet/company gets. The only other place is notionaddicts, and I don't see much PO3 action there either. So...the Apple iPad killer has sold may be 100 this time. Apple sure is quivering in its pants (don't blame me, you can find plenty of comments/articles claiming the same).

Of course, coming to Notionaddicts, it's slowly declining too. A lot of the new posts are spam selling some device or the other. A few others talk about Adam, but a look at the 'last 24 hours' shows where it's headed. If Notionaddicts wants to get some traffic, time to head out to other areas - I mean with a total consumer base of 300 it isn't going to get huge traffic anymore anyway.  Anyway, as much as I like Notionaddicts, it's headed to dead-pool in a few weeks at this rate - just the way of notioninkspot.com (dead) and notionkinkhacks which then re-branded itself as tabletroms.com and expanded scope.

But for the good people at Tabletroms...

You know where I'd like to reserve my praise in this whole NI Adam saga? It's the selfless, talented, good group of people at www.tabletroms.com.

If it weren't for them supporting with alternative downloads for Adam when NI made a joke of their own software, Notion Ink would be dead by now (not that they're any better). Just see the sorry 'update' saga going on right now -- oops my 3G broke, no wait my Wifi doesn't work, oh wait...no wipe this, wipe that, revert to that build, keep this build

Anyway, talented folks at tabletroms, hope your other forums grow and people enjoy the benefit of your work.
